What is the Mock Interview?
A mock interview is a simulated job interview used for practice. It replicates the format (voice, time pressure, question style) of a real loop and produces feedback on the candidate's answers. AI mock interviews use a candidate's CV to generate role-specific questions and score answers against a rubric.
In depth
Mock interviews come in three forms: peer-to-peer (e.g. Pramp), human coach, and AI mock interview. Peer mocks are free but quality varies with the partner. Human coaches give expert feedback but cost €100+/hr and are scheduling-bound. AI mock interviews are on-demand, consistent, and grade against a fixed rubric — but only good ones ingest the candidate's CV to produce CV-specific questions. The strongest prep stack pairs an AI tool for daily reps with a human coach in the final week.
FAQ
How long should a mock interview be?
Match the real loop. FAANG behavioral rounds run 45-60 minutes. MBB PEI rounds run 25-30 minutes. Aim for the same length so timing pressure matches.
Is an AI mock interview effective?
Yes when the AI ingests your CV and grades against a rubric. Generic AI question banks (no CV context, no STAR scoring) are not meaningfully better than rehearsing in front of a mirror.
